The Soap Tribune, Issue #107--celebrate earth day w a 25% off coupon
April 21, 2022
Every day is earth dayLive life like every day is earth day.
Since we've gotten chickens and continue to build the garden, I am more in touch with the earth's daily and seasonal cycles. A chicken's entire life is based on these cycles. They are busy drinking tea and eating crumpets, otherwise known as drinking rainwater and eating bugs and weeds, in preparation to lay eggs.
This year, we have another broody chick sitting on eggs, which are due to hatch around Andy's birthday.
In celebration of earth day, we are giving you a 25% off coupon on any purchase. It is good through 4/24/22. The code is earthday25

Garden sinkIt's time to work in the garden!
Even though there was a BIG snow storm expected, we got a wet snow layer that was gone by the end of the day. In preparation for this, I covered my lettuce bed with a plastic sheet making a tent. It is full of tiny lettuce, curly chicory, and tatsoi plants. It worked well protecting the plants from the snow. This morning, I had to hurry out there since the wind blew the tent and the floating row cover off.
The chicks help wake up the garden beds from Winter dormancy, by digging through the dirt and eating what's good. Then they take a dust bath and really fluff the whole thing up. It's great. BUT I didn't want them to do that in a bed already planted. Luckily they found a whole in their run fence and got into the rhubarb instead.
