Apples

This has been a bumper year for apples. They are sweet, crunchy, tart, green, yellow, red, purple-y red, reddish-black, green with red blush, yellow with green blush, you name it, Ithaca has a gigantic variety of apples growing right here.

Did you know that there are some apple growers in a radius around Ithaca that contribute to the many amazing apples you find around the country? We are awash with apple abundance!!

Because of this bountiful harvest, we have been living on this amazing resource. Apple pie, apple ginger chutney, apples and cheese, apple sauce alone and with potato pancakes. The list is endless.

Click this link below for my apple ginger recipe.

Of course the apple selection at The Ithaca Farmers Market is spectacular.

Ithaca farmers Market

Andy has decided that he is only going to Saturday markets starting this Saturday, which is also Daylight Savings Time. He will be in Booth 6 from 10-2 on Saturdays only.

Take note that Ithaca Farmers Market hours are changing after this weekend:

October hours remain the same for this weekend: Sat. 9-3pm Sun. 10-3pm

Starting next week Nov. 6th, November hours change to both Sat. and Sun. 10-2pm

Nov. 6th Daylight savings time

The last Sunday market of the year is Sun. Nov. 28th.

December market hours are Saturdays only 10-2pm

The Rutabaga Curl is Sat. Dec. 18th from 10-2

If you are a fan of organic fresh ginger, come down to the market and get some from the people who grow it, before it's all gone!

Lip Balm is still the best hair conditioner

I did some more hair conditioner experiments. For a few weeks, I went back to plain olive oil after hair washing using the same technique as the lip balm. Then I had a very busy week and didn't condition my hair at all. After that I returned to hair washing and using LiXTiK as hair conditioner. Once again, I like the lip balm the best.

Enjoy the fall with a day trip!

Apple picking is a really fun adventure, and Owen Orchards in Weedsport is a place to do it. They have hay rides, candied apples, and a general store with LiXTiK Lip Balm and Ithaca Liquid Soap Refill in it.

If you're in Ithaca and taking a lovely stroll around downtown, be sure to visit The Ithaca Commons and Home Green Home for some eco friendly home goods.

Buffalo's Elm Street, near University of Buffalo Campus, is a beautiful city walk. Elm Street is lined with large old trees, and lovely houses. The Lexington Coop on Elmwood and Hertle Ave bath carry LiXTiK Lip Balm. Stop in for lunch at Lexi's Kitchen! I'm scheduled to be at a local producer demo on Nov. 20th from 11:30-2pm at Lexington Coop Hertle Ave.
